Ø Describe your ideal Instructor/Professor.
My ideal Instructor would have to be the type that only tests you on what he/she lectures on. I don't mind if they lecture the main points of a subject and then expect you to read those points in the text book and know all the details, but I really don't like when they lecture on certain things and then expect you to read the entire book and know everything they didn't talk about.
Ø “I knew it when I studied it, but I forgot it on the test.” How can students study differently to prevent this from happening?
All students have different learning styles. In order to prevent forgetting things when it comes to test time, you should make sure you know your learning style and you should be studying that way. If you are studying with people who have different learning styles than you, you may think your studying and picking up information, but you really aren't.
Ø How do you study for quizzes/tests?
When studying, I make sure I read through all my notes a couple of times, and then type all the information I remember. I then review my notes and compare them to what I typed to see what information I missed. Also, I like to write out notecards and then study that way as well.
Ø What do you have trouble with on quizzes/tests?
I am absolutely horrible with timed tests and quizzes. I have really bad concentration, so lots of times I have to read a question at least 3 times. Because of this, I then struggle to get the quiz or test done in time.
*Please go to the website listed below, which is a "Letter to McDonald's" from a former employee. Read it and write at least a paragraph reaction on your Blog site.http://www.aboutmyjob.com/main.php3?action=displayarticle&artid=3141
After reading some of the chapters in FFN, I totally believe this person's story. Even though the person said when they could and couldn't work, the took advantage of them and made them work whenever the wanted, and then on top of that... treated them like crap. The employee tells us a number of things that happens behind the scenes and some of it is just unbelievable. Those fast food restaurants are gross and discusting. Most of the people that work there, I would imagine, can't really get jobs any where else, so Mc Donald's takes advantage of these poor people, and screws them over big time; no breaks, sucky hours, and horrible pay.
Also, read this short excerpt-- I was shocked:For coffee drinkers, it would seem fairly safe to just grab a quick cup of coffee at McDonalds on the way to work. But many health conscious people would object to it also including this list of ingredients: sodium phosphate, sodium polyphosphate, Di-Acetyl Tartrate Ester of Monoglyceride, sodium stearoyl lactylate, tetra sodium pyrophosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium citrate, and carrageenan.
I'm not really sure what any of those ingredients are, but I'm pretty sure I would be absolutely correct if I were to say that they are not good for you. :) And if they're not... that's a lot of non-healthy things in one cup of coffee.

"I'm not really sure what any of those ingredients are, but I'm pretty sure I would be absolutely correct if I were to say that they are not good for you." That's right, and exactly the point I am trying to make. We don't know what they are or what they are doing to our bodies. Yikes!
It would be great if Profs would only test on lectures but 90% of the time it is going to be on book and lecture, which is definitely an overload of information that you have to get used to.
I love your comment on knowing your learning style before you can study effectively. So true.
Timed tests do make everyone anxious and it's hard to get through that. It sounds cheesy but it works if you take deep breaths and tell yourself you'll be fine, be fine, be fine.. over and over. Not aloud of course ;)
Good job!
